This course offers students an exploration of foundational principles and theories of educational psychology within the framework of Christian faith and practice. Students will examine the psychological principles that underlie effective teaching and learning, with a particular focus on how these principles intersect with Christian beliefs and values. Course activities will pique critical reflection on the integration of psychology and theology to inform their understanding of human development, learning styles, motivation, and classroom management within educational settings influenced by Christian worldview. The goal is to develop a holistic understanding of the psychological foundations of teaching and learning, grounded in Christian faith and informed by educational research and theory. This course equips future educators with the knowledge, skills, and ethical frameworks necessary to create nurturing, inclusive, and transformative learning environments that honor the dignity and potential of each learner as a child of God. As a result of completing this class, the student will: 1. Explore the basic concepts and theories of educational psychology, including cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development. 2. Appraise the intersection of psychology and Christian faith, considering how biblical principles and theological insights can inform educational practice and pedagogy. 3. Discuss the implications of Christian beliefs and values for understanding human nature, motivation, and learning within educational contexts. 4. Investigate diverse learning styles and individual differences, recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of each learner as created in the image of God. 5. Analyze the role of teachers as facilitators of learning and spiritual formation, exploring strategies for fostering holistic development and character formation in students. 6. Discuss the impact of socio-cultural factors, including family, community, and church, on the educational experiences of learners within Christian contexts. 7. Evaluate theories of motivation and their application to educational settings, considering how Christian faith can inspire and sustain a sense of purpose and calling in teaching and learning. 8.
