TH 260: Apologetics Defending the Faith

This course prepares the student to orally answer and practice oral communication skills to address the hard questions people have about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and their faith. It equips the student with oral communication skills to “always [be] prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you . . .with gentleness and respect” against the claims of false religion, cults and atheism. (Three credit hours) At the end of this course, each student should be able to do the following: 1. Orally articulate the Bible’s teaching on the Trinity, Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit and salvation. 2. Through oral defense, identify unbiblical beliefs of false religions. 3. Through oral defense identify unbiblical views of aberrant forms of “Christianity.” 4. By oral presentation, defend Biblical truth against the errors of aberrant Christianity and false religions. 5. Teach, in a formal setting, the truths of the Trinity, Person and work of Christ, and the Holy Spirit. 6. Orally articulate the Bible’s revelation of Person and work of Christ with the goal of persuading unbelievers to believe the gospel.
