BI 601: Advanced Hermeneutics

Advanced Hermeneutics is a graduate-level course that studies the principles and methods of interpreting the Bible. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the nature of language and meaning, the historical context of the Bible, literary forms of the Bible and the role of the reader in interpretation. The course is designed to help students develop their skills in critical thinking and analysis, as well as their ability to communicate effectively about the Bible. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Analyze the literary and historical context of a biblical text. 2. Identify the theological themes of a biblical text. 3. Apply the Bible to their own lives and ministry. 4. Evaluate “meaning” and “application” of a Scriptural text 5. Communicate effective and accurate truths about the Bible to others. 6. Justify selected scriptural excerpts using the same hermeneutic that the Bible itself uses
