SCIN240: Astronomy for Christians with Lab

  • 4 Credit Hours

  • Online

This course introduces students to the majesty and structure of the universe as revealed through both Scripture and astronomical observation. Students will explore the features of the night sky, examine the relationship between the Genesis creation account and contemporary astronomical models, and evaluate competing worldviews concerning the origin and nature of the cosmos. Through classroom instruction and a hands-on astronomy lab, students will learn to observe, record, and interpret celestial phenomena while developing a distinctly Christian understanding of how the heavens declare the glory of God. Emphasis is placed on cultivating scientific literacy, strengthening biblical worldview foundations, and articulating a thoughtful, apologetic response to objections raised against the Genesis creation narrative. The combined lecture-and-lab format enables students to study the cosmos with both mind and eyes, deepening their wonder at God’s handiwork and their confidence in the coherence of the Christian faith.
