Course Description. This course will lead students to understand the importance of national and organizational cultures in the objective of fulfilling the Great Commission. Jesus said to make disciples and teach “all nations.” Any believer who seeks to fulfill this mission in a cross-cultural setting must understand that understanding cultural difference is critical in achieving effective cross cultural communication. The focus is that we must seek first to understand before we can hope to be understood. The course will enable students to develop communication skills, engage in cultural differences in a multicultural environment, and to understand the cultural dynamics that have been taking place in our increasingly globalized world. Attention is paid to missiological principles with an emphasis on the cultural and religious context, and the development of cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural communication skills for Christian witness. As a result of completing this course, the student will be able to:1. Articulate and demonstrate biblically the church’s calling to make disciples among the nations. 2. Evaluate the impact of national cultural in the process of missions as revealed in the Bible. 3. Appraise current issues in global missions. 4. Demonstrate proficiency in leading a local church toward global missions.
