RE 940: Dissertation Writing and Prospectus

This Doctoral level course will help the doctoral student design and prepare for the final project. They will learn how to choose a topic, narrow their focus, outline their project and present a final proposal for their final project. The final proposal will include a timeline for their final project as well. (Three credit hours) Refer to the college catalog for prerequisite requirements. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: Identify sound doctoral research practices. Analyze literature as it relates to the student’s research topic. Present clearly and concisely research components for a dissertation. Evaluate and produce scholarly sources suitable for dissertation research. Develop dissertation title, research questions, and abstract. Synthesize a thorough literature review from seminal sources and current sourced research. Distinguish between quantitative and qualitative research styles. Produce a timeline for dissertation research, writing, and defense.
