GEOG245: Geography for Christians
3 Credit Hours
Online
This course introduces students to the study of world geography from a biblical worldview, preparing them for future missiological study and global ministry. Rooted in Christ’s command to take the gospel “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8), the class equips students to understand how the physical and cultural arrangement of the world impacts gospel advance. Students will explore foundational concepts such as cultural diffusion, cultural landscapes, centripetal and centrifugal forces, distance decay, culture hearths, and primate cities. They will also study continents, nations, and major people groups, considering how these shape human interaction. Finally, students will conduct an in-depth study of a selected people group, identifying cultural features and geographic barriers that influence gospel reception and missionary strategy.
