The Church and Its Mission explores the biblical foundations and theological framework of the church's mission in the world. This course equips students to critically evaluate historical and contemporary philosophies of congregational worship and outreach, helping them to develop a holistic understanding of how worship and mission intersect in the life of the local church. Students will engage with scripture, theological texts, and case studies to articulate and implement strategies for faithful and effective ministry in diverse cultural contexts. By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Articulate a biblical theology of the church's mission, grounded in scripture and informed by historical developments. 2. Evaluate and compare various philosophies and practices of congregational worship and their impact on the church's mission. 3. Develop strategies for integrating worship and outreach in ways that align with the biblical mission of the church. 4. Analyze cultural and contextual factors that influence the church's worship and outreach practices. 5. Formulate a comprehensive plan for engaging the local church in mission, including practical applications for worship and outreach. 6. Demonstrate an ability to engage in theological reflection and dialogue regarding contemporary challenges to the church's mission.
