This course equips students with the essential tools and methods for accurately interpreting Scripture by exploring its original meaning. Students will gain hands-on experience using language tools, such as lexicons, concordances, interlinear Bibles, and software resources, to engage with the biblical text in its original languages—Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Through guided practice and case studies, students will develop the skills necessary to analyze word meanings, grammatical structures, and cultural contexts. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to exegete passages responsibly, ensuring their interpretations align with the intended message of the biblical authors. As a result of completing this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify and effectively use key language tools, including lexicons, concordances, interlinear texts, and digital resources for biblical study. 2. Explain the significance of understanding the original languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) in biblical exegesis. 3. Analyze the meaning of biblical words and phrases in their original linguistic, grammatical, and cultural contexts. 4. Demonstrate proficiency in basic word studies using available tools to uncover the meaning and usage of key terms. 5. Accurately exegete a selected passage of Scripture, integrating insights from language tools to produce a faithful interpretation. 6. Evaluate and critique interpretations of Scripture for their faithfulness to the original meaning and context. 7. Develop a habit of careful and thoughtful study of the Bible, using language tools to deepen personal understanding and ministry application.
