BIBL201: Biblical Hermeneutics
3 Credit Hours
Online
This course introduces students to the principles and practice of biblical hermeneutics. Because Scripture was written in real historical, cultural, and literary contexts, faithful interpretation requires careful attention to authorial intent, genre, grammar, and setting. Students will define key interpretive terms, examine historical and literary contexts using appropriate tools, and distinguish the original meaning from contemporary applications. The course trains students to analyze and evaluate competing interpretations and to defend the most faithful reading based on sound hermeneutical principles. By the end of the course, students will produce a written exegetical evaluation that demonstrates responsible methods and application.
