This course is a study of in rightly interpreting the Word of God. The aim of the course is to illustrate the various principles of Biblical interpretation that must be followed if one is to understand the teaching of God’s Word. This class is pivotal for anyone who is going preach or teach the Bible. (Three credit hours)Course Objectives. As a result of completing this course, the student will: 1. Identify the general principles guiding the exegetical process for biblical interpretation. 2. Utilize appropriate tools, resources, and methods to apply sound exegetical principles toward biblical interpretation. 3. Clearly communicate the meaning of the biblical text to a contemporary audience. 4. Distinguish between different genres of biblical literature and display competence in applying basic rules that govern the interpretation of these genres. 5. Demonstrate the ability to discover the theological principle intended by the biblical author and its specific application in well-articulated written form. 6. Critique the validity of interpretations of specific biblical passages.
