This course is designed to give students an overview of youth ministry within the local church. The course will explore particularly the Biblical, theological and sociological foundations for youth ministry. Investigations include the role and relationships of the youth minister and the integration of a philosophy of youth ministry within the mission of the local church.Course Objectives. As a result of completing this course, the student will: 1. Describe the biblical/theological/sociological foundations for youth ministry 2. Appraise the importance of a well-balanced youth ministry to the young person and his/her family. 3. Create a personal ministry philosophy in conjunction with leadership which is purpose driven, mission focused, vision aware and values grounded. 4. Describe the components and strategies of a complete youth ministry. 5. Discern the importance of personal godliness in reference to youth ministry.
