This course continues the study of biblical hermeneutics and homiletics by introducing students to the languages the Bible was written in, and gives them tools to understand how the translations of those languages influence the way we understand the Scripture today. The course includes an introduction to the biblical Hebrew and Greek languages and a deep dive into the exegetical method, which will culminate in giving significant attention to converting exegetical work into sermon preparation. This course will help students make the most of the resources available so they can study the meaning of God’s Word on a deeper level. The skills gained in this course will help students develop the skills and habits that make an effective preaching/teaching ministry possible. At the end of this course, the student will be able to:1. Provide a basic description of the biblical Hebrew and Greek languages 2. Explain the basic steps involved in the exegetical process 3. Employ language tools in the process of interpretation 4. Apply the exegetical method to both Old Testament and New Testament passages 5. Apply the results of exegesis in a contemporary setting in sermon development
